Challenge:

I had several occasions to make cards for this weekend, great reason to
spend time in my crafting studio!  The graduation and birthday cards are
for great nieces and the shower card is for a co-worker to give her niece,
the flowers were already embroidered on the card and have a special
meaning to them so I coordinated with those.

Fluttering By

Spent some time in my craft room this morning to combine a few fun challenges.  I
pulled out a Hampton Arts butterfly set, Recollections paper, and Purple Passions.  Also
used my Quick Cutz Antique Doily die.  This will go in the mail next week to my
Chemo buddy.  Hope you are enjoying the holiday.

Live, Laugh, Love

This sweet image is from Bugaboo, I've been wanting to color it for awhile and it just has got lost in the shuffle.  I pulled it out to join their bingo challenge and a few other favorite challenges.  I used my Tim Holtz distress markers and my Inktense pencils on this.  My bingo is die cut eyelet square and also big scallop circle used on my flower, flower(made from old dryer sheet) and button (from my stash).  I really like this saying and was happy with this card. Below is a close up of the dryer sheet flower, I've posted instructions in the past but let me know if you want them again. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Floating Embossed Inlay

Supplies: Tsukinek Gold embossing powder, Memory box Rhone Butterfly die cut, Darice embossing folder, Peerless Watercolors

I love trying new techniques and folds and I found this techniques that inspired me by Mary H. at Carolina Cards (she has so many beautiful cards and great techniques and explanations on her blog).  I had to try right away, it is called Floating Embossed Inlay and Mary saw it on a video by Catherine Pooler, I subscribe to her video's but missed this one.  Basically you cut half of your image out of a piece of white card stock three times-the magic number for eye appeal.  Then you cut the full image out three times, coat  it with Versa Mark, cover with embossing powder emboss it, coat with Versa Mark again, cover with embossing powder again, emboss and you have a lovely image with a lot of depth.  You can watercolor or use pattern paper as above and embellish as desired. Thanks Mary and Catherine for the inspiration!

Congrats Graduate

I couldn't resist using this cute image from Great Impressions again for a co-workers graduation card.  I stamped and cut out a graduation hat and diploma from a Stampin Up set I have had for over 20 years and embossed a Congrats by Tina Bennet Clear Stamps. This is for a co-worker who is has been working on an advanced degree for years.  We are celebrating with a pot luck lunch at work on Monday.

May Flower

Happy Birthday month Mynn!  Mynn's birthday is this month and she is having a Birthday Bash Giveaway  to celebrate! I thought this card would be just perfect for her, cherry and bright with strong faith mixed in. Blessings to you Mynn  during your birthday month.

I used a digi from 2 Cute Ink, colored with Copics, layering on paper from Recollections, using my labels 4 die cuts and then glittering the little pink flowers, using glossy accents on the yellow flower center, yellow petals, bee, caterpillar and leaves, and then embossing the pink flower with holographic embossing powder which turned it purple (true color is below on a card I created at the same time very CAS but cute). I also used a Blessings die cut from Die Versions, I cut it out 3 times and glued the 3 together for dimension.

So glad you stopped by for a visit!  Have a good week.

Happy Mothers Day

Below is my moms Mothers Day card, Happy Mothers Day to a wonderful mom and friend, some of you on my sidebar know her as anonymous on your blog comments, she is also an amazing stamper. Above is a close up so you can see the shimmer of the flowers.

I was fascinated by Jennifer McGuire's video's on  deco foiling so when I spotted the foiling on clearance at Michael's I had to buy a bunch of it and then of course since she uses a laminator  for the best results I went to Amazon and found one for just $14.99 (I do have other uses in mind for it).  My husband is beginning to realize my cards are not inexpensive.

Stamp is from Stampendous, butterfly die from Memory box.

Happy Mothers Day to my all my blogging friends that are moms, hope you have a wonderful day.

Puppy Love

This sweet little dog (and clouds) are from Great Impressions and is for a summer birthday at work.  As most of you know I make the group cards at work for all the birthdays and special occasions, it was a challenge at first to make 5x7's (so all the signatures could fit) but now I like having all that creative space.  Dogs are also listed as a favorite on Chemo Angel requests so I think this image will get a lot of use. Below is a close up look. I also used Die-Namics stitched dies, My Minds Eye  The Sweetest Thing-Tangerine two sided paper, Copics, cardstock and embellishments from my stash.

I made this card with the following fun challenges in mind:

House of Cards May Challenge: Bokeh technique

This month starts a new challenge at House of Cards! This month our challenge is: To create a card with Bokeh effect.  Bokeh is a term that comes from the Japanese word "boke" (prounounced bo-keh) which means fuzziness or dizziness.  This effect creates a soft dreamy effect and is often used in photography to add an airy effect, dimension, and the imagery of scattered lights.

I decided to make a shaker card( Butterfly Die by Design Studio) but to leave plenty of my Bokeh background showing as this technique is so stunning  you do not need much else.  I also did a second card and simply die cut "Blessings" and added 3 sequins to let the background be the focus.

I hope you will give it a try and join our challenge at House of Cards after being inspired by the design team.

I just looked at all the design teams posts and there are several tutorial on the "Bokeh technique" and the most amazing cards so be sure to check them out at House of Cards, follow the links or come back each Monday to see new cards displayed.
