Daisies For Caring Hearts Card Drive

Jennifer McGuire is having a lasting Hearts card drive.  A friend of hers at Hero Arts, Kimberly, lost twins to miscarriage.  Kimberly received a book that helped her and is attempting to get this book in as many doctors offices as possible to help others who have miscarriages and Jennifer had the idea to have a handmade card with each book.

I did not realize how little time it takes to make 5 cards versus one when they are all the same and especially using the Misti, I made these in such little time last evening!

You can mail cards in an unsealed envelope to: (donations optional)

MHK Designs Blossoming

MHK Designs has a new blog and this is the first challenge!  Each month will be a photo//color inspiration and the design team will share creations made with products from the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop and we encourage you to play along!

Here is this month's inspiration:

I have a passion for trying new folds.  I have made Z-fold cards before but this is my first modified Z-fold card, which basically is a shorter Z-fold card.   You start with the colored paper of your choice and trim it to 5 by 12 inches.  Mark the top left side 2 1/2 inches down  and trim on the diagonal to the top right corner.   Take white cardstock and trim to 4 7/8 by 12inches.  Mark top left corner at 2 3/8 inches  down and trim on the diagonal to the top right corner.   Scor both pieces at 4 and 8 inches, fold and attach white cardstock to colored cardstock with adhesive of your choice  as shown on my card and decorate as desired.

The prize for this challenge includes:

You can play along at MHK Designs  and see the cards of the talented design team.

Butterfly Shaker Card

Working on the Co-worker February cards as I have several to make.  I have missed several of my favorite challenges lately with the holidays so I wanted to play along with several them today as I made a birthday card this weekend.  I am making all shaker cards for this month.  I started out with an item from my NBUS pile an ARTplorations stencil Shower of Flutters with some aqua ink, look closely and you can see the butterflies, and matched it up with some aqua Amuse cardstock, made a shaker with an old Angel Co. stamp set and Amuse sequins (like how small they are), and designed it to Sketch Saturday.

Here is a close up of the shaker and the cute sequins:

Penguin/Igloo

I saw a similar card to this on Pintrest a couple weeks ago and could not get it out of my mind so whipped this up this morning using  embossing folders: Tim Holtz bricks, Taylored Expressions snow, Die cut Standard Circles Large and a cute little penguin stamp.  Below is a close up as the snow embossing does not show up as well as I would like.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Winter Scene House of Cards January Challenge

Create a card using some embossing and/or these colors:

a door tones

It's time for another new monthly challenge here at House of Cards! I decided to go with the embossing and the colors.  It was so fun with my new Misti, I colored my stamp with watercolor  markers and then topped it off with Versamark ink and embossed with holographic embossing powder to mimic a snowy look.
