What a fun sketch challenge for this week at The House That Stamps Built,   I started by choosing an image that would fit an oval, Repeat Impressions: Cupcakes. From there it was easy, picked papers, colored and added Glossy Accents to the cherries.

I hope you will play along with us, we always enjoy seeing your entries.

Happy Birthday Wendy

Today, we are celebrating a very special lady!

Wendy Wyman, owner of Repeat Impressions Stamps, has a birthday today,
and we all want to wish her a wonderful day...

When Wendy was just 4 years old, she announced that she was going to be an artist when she grew up.  Many years, and many sketchbooks later, she had earned a BFA in Graphic Design.

The next 11 years found Wendy worked in advertising, freelancing, and running a printing company.

And then it happened...Wendy's mom became a stamping addict, and the rest was history!  It was Wendy's mom's encouragement that led her to turn her illustrations into fine art rubber stamps.

Wendy's husband Bill, was also looking for a career change, and jumped at the idea of learning a new skill.  And so....in 1996, Wendy and Bill established Repeat Impressions Stamps.  Each stamp is designed by Wendy, and manufactured by Bill in their home workshop!

We hope that you will join us today, as we hop together for Wendy!

A note to Wendy from all of us:

Wendy, you are the sweetest, and most generous person we know.
As a 'boss', rarely do we find ourselves working for someone that is more professional,
or more organized!  You are so understanding of our personal issues, and it's a joy to work with you and your products!

We want to wish you a very Happy Birthday!
We each look up to you, we admire you, and we respect you.
May your day today be filled with love and laughter!

And remember....the more candles you have, the bigger the wish you are allowed!

Here  is the birthday card I sent to Wendy using 1401-P Portland Head Lighthouse from Repeat Impressions.

I chose to go with the picture and the colors but added in a bit of pink to brighten it up.  I made a "Twisted Easel" card and used Repeat Impressions Kisa 2, is she not adorable?

Project of the Week - Brusho Background

Hi everyone, Donna here and it is my week to share a Project of the Week for The House That Stamps Built, using Repeat Impression stamps.  I choose creating a Brusho background.

Start by gathering your supplies:  Brusho's, Watercolor paper (cut into fourths, trim later),  Craft sheet or other waterproof surface, spritzer bottle filled with water, and 2 paper towels.

Choose 3 complimentary colors, I chose yellow, orange, and blue.  Sprinkle two colors lightly on your paper, you can always add more.

Spritz with water with a light touch until colors begin to blend.

Add third color and spritz again.  Add more Brusho as needed and more water as needed.

Continue to spritz and you can tip to blend the colors.  Area's that muddy, get too wet, or that you want to lighten dab with the paper towel.

Continue the process until you get the look that you want to achieve.  You can air dry or speed up the process with you embossing tool, it will not change the look but will cause some warping.

Some people prefer to wet the paper first but I get more control with the method I showed, experiment with both and see what works best for you.

Assemble as desired using scor tape:

I used Repeat Impressions 708-K Rebecca and 4525-K Sunbeams for my card:

Had a  couple wonderful stamping days at my dear friend Shirley's (aka Glittered Paws house a couple weeks ago) with a group of dear friends and am just now getting to post the cards as I had a vacation to Florida right after, see a few of those pictures below.  We each bring a shoebox project to Shirley's for our yearly get together and have a wonderful time, crafting, chatting, and eating!  Thanks Shirley for hosting and Wayne (her hubby) for cooking!

My project's with Inspired by Stamping stamps, and papers by Recollections are above.

Just for You

A card I sent to a dear friend about a week ago to let her know I was thinking of her to boost her spirits.  I had made a similar card awhile back and really liked the design and changed it up to use this friends favorite color and used sparkly red embossing powder.  The sentiment and flowers ( by Inspired by Stamping) are stamped on Vellum and layered over patterned paper and then cardstock. To me the best cards to make and send are ones to brightened another persons day.  Wishing all my blogland friends a special day today, I appreciate your visits and your comments, they brighten my day.

It's a fun  Designer Choice Challenge this week at The House That Stamps Built, chosen by Laurie, a Long Tall Sally card.   A Long Tall Sally card is a card that fits in a business size envelope, 3 3/4" by 8 3/4". This was so much fun to make a different size card, took a little thinking before I got started and then the fun began!  I used Repeat Impressions Sunflower, 4313-K, colored it up with Copics and did some die cutting, layering and pop dots and this is my card.

I hope you will join us and play along in this fun challenge and as always if you join the challenge at The House That Stamps Built, you have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Repeat Impressions, use a Repeat Impressions stamp and you get double chances to win.
