The House That Stamps Built-Monochromatic

Time for another weekly challenge at The House That Stamps Built. This
week's theme is Monochromatic.

I am ready for warm weather, palm trees and sunshine so I used
those thoughts for my inspiration.   Some simple stamping
using my MISTI, layers and a few gems and this simple,
peaceful tropical card was done.

Happy Birthday

Today is Wendy, the owner and designer, of The House That Stamps Built,
so it was only fitting that I  show her birthday card for our Anything Goes
challenge this week.

I thought a cheery spring card was in order.  Flowers and butterfly
are colored with Copics and some Wink of Stella to add shimmer. A
couple die cuts and  also some gems of course.

Another theme challenge this week at: The House That Stamps Built.
The popular slimline card is out theme.

Here is what I came up with:

I started with stamping the butterflies randomly with Versamark ink,
I then embossed with white embossing ink.  Then I blended Distress Oxide
Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Seedless Preserves and Candied
Apple over them, buffing off the butterflies after. I splattered some water
over the top.

Twofer

I used a stamp that has been in my collection for ages for these  two
cards: Collage Stamp by darkroom door. My favorite thing to do with
it is to color it with watercolor markers, spritz with water and stamp,
it comes out different every time.  That is what I did on the first card.
On the second I stamped a portion of it in black, die cut it and colored
it to match my background papers. This card is a Joy Fold card with
a buckle closure.  You can find directions for a similar version here.

I made this card for:

Fun Fold

We are continuing with theme challenges for awhile at The House That Stamps Built
to simplify things, while Wendy's husband recovers from his hospital stay,
and this week is Fun Folds.

This was a new fold to me that I saw on Pintrest, I put my own spin on it, changing
things around a bit.  When I see a fold I like, I usually look at several cards with
the fold and then combine the elements that I like best.

I like the soft look of this card and the paper piecing adds to it, I used
Glossy Accents on the cupcake toppings.

Pick of the Week for The House That Stamps Built

Hi, it's my turn for POTW (Pick of the Week) at The House That Stamps Built,
and I has several requests for the upright 4x4 sticky note holder that I had
on my blog a couple weeks ago.  This is the design I made for today:

Lets start with supplies:
Solid color card stock of your choice cut to:
11" by 4 1/4 "
3" by 4 1/4"
5 1/2" by 4 3/4"
Some scraps

Pattern paper:
4" by 5 1/4"
3 1/2" by 2 1/4"

Stamps and embellishments of choice:
I used Repeat Impressions:

Scor 11" by 4 1/4 " card stock at 5 1/2 ", add 4 by 5 1/4" patterned
paper.  Scor  3" by 4 1/4" patterned paper at 1/2", 1 1/2" and 2". Set aside.

Scor 5 1/2" by 4 3/4" card stock 1/2" from both long edges sides and
at 2 1/2 and 3" as shown.

Trim tabs as below:

Add 3 1/2" by 2 1/4" patterned paper to this piece.  Add Scor tape as shown to tabs,

Attach small piece that was shown above (on right) to 11" by 4 1/4 ",piece of
card stock, attache at edge, press firmly.  Remove other side and
close card stock and press.

Remove Scor tape from box part, fold small tab up then fold edge over. Press
firmly. Repeat on other side.

Put Scor tab on four side and down center, attach to main piece.

Above is how it will look at this point.  Now stamp your sentiment and
images, embellish, add your sticky notes and a pen!

Final project again:

I hope you enjoyed this rather lengthy tutorial, I just can't seem to do short
ones like my teammates. See you back on Wednesday for a new challenge at
The House!

Grungy flower

I say a U-tube video by Ryan Swift from Glitter Grunge and I was so impressed
I had to take a try at his technique.  Above are the two cards I made.  Normally
I would just leave white space around a flower like below.  Above you use
a blender blush or tool of you choice to blend and then take a stencil to
random areas of your card.  I like how it turned out.  Instead of adding a
sentiment I just tucked a piece of the copper shinny paper I used as a layer
inside for when I am ready to use the card.

Have a wonderful weekend, I'm glad you stopped by.

Going Green

It's Designer Choice week at The House That Stamps Built, and with St. Pats Day
coming up soon Shirleyhas chosen "Going Green" any interpretation of the color green.

I used a stencil to add several shades of green to the base of my card
and then added some fun St. Pat's shamrocks (cut on my Scan N cut) and
a St. Pat's sentiment.
