Squash Card

I wanted to make a fun fold card for a dear friends birthday so I
decided to try a squash card.   You can tell best by the
third picture how is squashes up to fold.

It was less complicated than I expected.  The base is a
8 1/2" by 8 1/2" piece of double sided patterned paper.
You score at 4 1/4 " diagonally and vertically so
that it is quartered.   Burnish the score lines.  Then score
diagonally from both corners, burnish well.

I just eyeballed sizes for the front and two inside layers.
The flower and leaf are part of new set  from
Altenew: Mini White Splendour Anemone.  Colored
with Copics.

Girls Day

Had a fun day a couple weeks ago at my house with a couple
dear friends.  We all had projects to share and enjoyed
chatting, lunch and crafting.

Diane had the cute duck card and the inlaid flower card:

Shirley had this darling phone card and the glitter flower
card.  We had a good laugh over who the phone card
could be sent to, not a young person!

My two cards:

The lighthouse is a die by Die Versions.
Butterfly card is Catherine Pooler and the background
is stenciled after first blending of the card front.

Dad

Thanks to all who extended birthday wished to my dad.  His
90th birthday was rough but he made it.  He died the following
day after being on hospice for about 7 month.  His last
day was peaceful and pain free, he died with my mom
and I at the bedside and while a favorite priest visited
and prayed with him.

It will be busy here for awhile but I will be back to
card making and commenting soon.

Leftover basket

I've been going through my basket of previously stamped images to use them
up.  I had over 12 acetate images stamped many years ago and run
through the Xyron.  Time to use them up!  A few I put Pearlex on the back
( third and fourth card)  then found it easier to use a variegated patterned
paper as a backing (first and second card).   I made about a dozen and this
is just a few of them.  I used snippets for most of the layers.

I have some Christmas ones left to play with another day.

Father's Day cards

I pulled out some old paper packs today in masculine colors to get
some Fathers Day inspiration and came up with two and a spare!  The
light house die makes two cards since you do an inlaid design, the
top one is my spare and the middle one is for my hubby.  The
lighthouse is Die Versions and the wheel is Momenta.  On my
dad's I paired a couple papers and embossed with a Tim
Holtz wood grain embossing folder, picked some coordinating papers
and come up with the third card.  Below is the snippets I used
up on all three, anxious to play with the rest of them as they
are great for masculine cards:

Have a wonderful day!

Butterflies

I think I have found my mojo!  I ink blended the yellow and pink
Catherine Pooler inks.  I then used a Catherine Pooler stencil over it with
the same colors.  Then I embossed it with with a butterfly embossing
folder.  The butterflies and sentiment are also Catherine Pooler's,
coloring with Copic markers.

Beautiful Blooms Fun Fold

I have been in a creative lull, I like to design my own cards and
have just been without ideas.  I wanted to create today so I found
a fun fold card on Pintrest for my inspiration by Terri Gaines.
It was actually very simple to create and reasonably quick. I used
two embossing folders, one 3D and one regular on the white panels.
Coloring with Copics.

Flower Power

I was the lucky draw for the prize at Snippet's Playground last time and
was anxious to play with my goodies.  A few are stamped ready to make,
the one above with image from Crafty Roo was the first completed.
The blue background was colored and stenciled in my background box,
I added some stamping to it, colored the flower with dye inks
and splattered with white and pink.  The black border and the black and
white paper, and the butterfly were also snippets. Mixed media is a challenge for
me, but I really enjoyed making this card.

Bouqet for Mom

 Happy Mother's Day to all!

My mom's Mothers Day card. Image is Altenew-a May 2022 set that
comes with stamp, stencils, embossing folder and die,
stencil is Pink and Main. I like the look of embossing after
stenciling the rose bouquet. I added sparkle with my
Wink of Stella and used a white gel pen and some gems.

Butterfly Shaker

I have not been very creative lately so I pulled up several of
my favorite challenges and made a card to fit all of
them.  I recently bought some Gina K inks and had
a panel I had sitting on my desk (snippet), embossed
it with a Paper Studio butterfly die I had won
previously from Mrs. A, added another layer of ink
so the butterflies would show up better.  I turned
this into a shaker card, used a pink frame I had in a
box and added an Altenew Happy Birthday that I already had.
This was fairly quick since everything was already cut
and sitting around!

Butterfly cards

Sharing a couple of CAS butterfly cards. I used up a lot of snippets on these cards.
The top butterfly was sitting on my craft table, the second card I went into
my background box and pulled one out to die cut the butterfly and for
under the layer.  I used a NBUS (never before used stuff) bubble die on both.

Happy Anniversary

I have not created or posted for awhile.  Hopefully I am out of
my slump.  For those that have been asking, I am 5 weeks out
from my hip recovery and am doing well.  Each day is a
an improvement towards normal.

I was inspired yesterday by Jayce Gasper who appeared on a
live with Jennifer McGuire, it can be found here.  He is
a scientist and card maker and I learned so much from
him.  I also did the double embossing on my background.

The rose die is Altenew, I cut the cold layer and the
Happy Anniversary from scraps.  Base layers from
white and colored with distress oxides.

Golden Butterflies

I came across these aqua/gold scraps a few weeks ago and wanted to create
with them.  I found come gold and vellum snippets to go with them.

I wanted each of them to be unique so browsed my die cuts and picked
out a few.  Did some layering and splattered metallic gold and aqua
paints on them. A few embellishments and I was happy with
my butterfly cards.  I've already mailed several as thank you's
for food and kindness given to me while recuperating from my
hip replacement surgery.    Thank you to my friends/followers
for their good wishes.  I am doing well and have my 3 week
checkup next week.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

 Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I am hooked on pocket cards.  So fun, easy and cute.  This was one of
my projects when going to Shirley's.

This is a pre-scheduled post, I should be a week out from
a hip replacement today.  Hopefully when I am off
I will do some blog hopping but may not be leaving comments.
I hope to be back in my craft room and blogging soon.
Recovery is going well, a few little things slowing
it down but improving every day.

Walker Bag

My latest project, a walker bag. After knee or hip replacement you
need a walker for about 1 week then advance to a cane. They cost anywhere
from $16 on up and I was able to make this one for $3.00!  Having a
walker bag enables you to be more independent like getting a drink
for yourself. Many of my friends have had surgery and needed
something like this.  I plan to make more.

St. Patricks Cards

My projects at Shirley's were St. Patrick's Day cards.  One this one I brought
the die cut basket and shamrocks and we each did our own think
with arranging and the background.  Baskets and shamrocks
were cut out of snippets.   I was quite happy with these.
