I tried it on both glossy cardstock (on the left) and on watercolor
cardstock (on the right.)
Gather your supplies, card stock of choice, Distress Oxides of
choice, I used squeezed lemonade, picked raspberry and
mermaid lagoon, water spritzer and stamps of your
choice. I used Repeat Impressions: 1401-P, Portland Head Light (sm)
Smoosh some of each ink on a smooth surface as below:
Spritz with water:
Take a piece of scrap plastic, acetate or saran and dip into one
color of ink:
Smoosh and smear on your cardstock in various areas.
Repeat until you have the coverage you desire:
Move on to the next color, then the next:
Use backgrounds to make cards, this one is the glossy cardstock:
This is Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock:
Thanks for joining us today. I would like to see your attempts at
smooshing and know which cardstock you prefer.

I love that technique Donna! That background is beautiful and I love the card.
There's nothing better than smooching, Donna, and I love your examples and the cards you made! I think the glossy one looks softer and dreamier. I usually lay my paper into the ink on my mat; I had forgotten about doing it this way and now can't wait to try it again. It seems like you have much better control and you don't get that slurp on the edge from lifting the paper out of the color. Way better!! Thank you! Take care and be safe! Hugs, Darnell
Two stunning cards Donna! I love the backgrounds you created with the smooshing technique and the images are gorgeous!
Fabulous technique Donna. I prefer the more subtle colours on the glossy card...loz
Awesome technique, Donna! This is one of my favourite techniques for backgrounds! Love how both of these turned out! Beautiful colours you used! The lighthouse card is gorgeous and so is the floral card! I love both of them! Hope you and your loved ones are all still safe and healthy.
